MPG GRADUATES AND APPRENTICES
Apprentices Working in conjunction with our client, Laing O’Rourke, to meet their aims to recruit from the local area of Newham, apprenticeship application forms were offered to local schools, colleges, Job Centre Plus and Workplace in the London Borough of Newham. In response we shortlisted 7 candidates and following an assessment centre, two 19 year old candidates were chosen to join us for the pilot Cold Steel Framework Apprenticeship scheme organised by ConstructionSkills. We are delighted that Mark McCarthy and Jed Thomas began their apprenticeship with us on 28 June 2010 and have now completed their first block of attendance at Acton College.
Graduates MPG were proud to support their local University in Hertfordshire by sending two of their graduates on the ‘Stepping in to Leadership’ management programme run throughout June/July. It involved attendance at three two day workshops and gave the graduates a chance to mix with others at a similar stage of their career. The course has received great feedback from the two attendees and learning from the programme has been evidenced back at the workplace. A comment from one of the attendees was: ‘You don’t learn how to deal with people when studying for your degree at University and the course helped me understand how to adopt different approaches to the various people you work with”.
Under Graduates MPG are proud to be able to offer industrial work placements to sponsored students currently needing experience as part of their degree courses. We are offering a year’s placement to a Sheffield University student on our Barnsley BSF project and also another student requiring a 6 month placement will be placed on the same project to assist one of our major clients to place one of their students.
