GIVE AND GAIN DAY

As part of their Corporate & Social Responsibility strategy, on 9th July 2010 MPG Group took part in the Give & Gain Day initiative.  A team of 14 volunteers from MPG built vegetable planters, information posts and a recycling area for Shenley Primary School in Hertfordshire.  This was done in conjunction with Business in the Community and materials were kindly donated by Travis Perkins & VJ Technology. An article also appeared in the Borehamwood Times which can be found here.

Furthermore a team of 4 volunteers from MPG took part in a STEMnet event held at Birmingham Science Museum, also in conjunction with Give and Gain, to demonstrate the benefits of the core educational subjects of science, techonology, engineering and maths in the working environment.

This involved a number of national businesses including MPG, tasking children from five local schools to produce solutions to challenging and fun activities. These activities included the construction of a paper bridge which had to be designed to support coins, and producing a parachute to ensure an egg did not break when dropped from a height of 2 meters.
