MPG is committed to the professional development of our teams and our approach has been to tailor specific modules to the needs of the business. Our staff have welcomed this initiative, which we call Project Excellence. It is our way of making sure that everyone has the requisite competencies and knowledge to undertake their work in the most effective and safest manner possible. We invest 10% of our net profit into training and development.
We use external training providers from Open Road Learning Ltd and Plan Delivery Ltd to deliver the courses, however they ensure that our groups of staff in attendance always speak about their own experiences so that we learn from each other’s backgrounds. The core modules in the training are Programme Management, Strategic Awareness, Team Awareness, Individual Awareness and Commercial Management. Our planning course has proved so popular that some of our customers have requested that their teams attend the module and we have also received funding in 2010 from ConstructionSkills. This is testament to the quality and relevance of our training to the needs of the construction industry.
